If any of you ask me about the WCG 2009 sponsored by Wateen a big name of the IT industry......

everyone knows about it, I will say that it was the worst WCG in Pakistan in have seen since 2005, I have been all the way through several WCG 2009 National finals of many countries which I will defiantly give brief details for GreenFrag’s valued visitors.
For all intents and purposes the national final isn't quite that prestigious, although it is ought to be but we have not seen WCG as a very small event it is always a Big Event. The officials don't want to exhilarate their audiences and give out prices just to entertain; there is more to it. It is essential to determine the best of the best at a tournament where Pakistan's Gaming elite is gathered. That way only the very best teams will be able to compete at the World Cyber Games Grand Final but here we have budgetary issues with WCG’s Core sponsor, well it is really the sponsor’s fault as they never did their planning for the next year or any other reason and if they had issues let others take the tag to be the strategic partner or the main official organizer for the National Big event out off all, an annual competition that can be best compared with the Olympic Games, it is in actual fact called “Olympics of eSports” and it has to be like what have you seen history from 2005 -2007 like Mr. Mamoor use to deliver the event not exactly like the WCG Grand Final but I always give us a flavor of WCG Yearly Event. It is not confirmed to us that it will be in Neomatrix or in EXPO but as per the current situation I believe it will be in Neomatrix.
The main motivation for Counter Strike Clans is only the price money the complete prices for all games are as follow:
Games | 1st Price | 2nd Price |
| Counter Strike 1.6 | 50,000/- | 25,000/- |
| DOTA | 30,000/- | 10,000/- |
| Call Of Duty 4 | 30,000/- | 10,000/- |
| SPEARHEAD | 20,000/- | 10,000/- |
| WC3 – TFT | 10,000/- | 5,000/- |
| FIFA 09 | 10,000/- | 5,000/- |
Further Neo and WATEEN combined must have tried for more sponsors and should have team up with Wired-up to get the sponsor. I would like to appreciate Wired-up in terms of Sponsor they always have brought good sponsors and like ESWC 2008 the WCG 2009 would have taken by W-up then the situation would be very different.
For just a glance for Gfrags visitors I would like to bring the details of the few WCG Nationals Picture views so that all of us will have the idea that the other countries also facing Financial crises but still they are able to manage the big event which only comes once in a year, for your information I would like to give you a very brief WCG achievement is that WCG also received Guinness Book of World Record for brining such a high number of gamer under single umbrella “World Cyber Gaming”.
What is World Cyber Gaming or what it’s meaning:
- A global tournament in which sport is conducted within the medium of cyberspace, also known as e-sports.
- A rapidly growing international Olympics in which nearly one million players complete against one another
for the title of world champion in separate events.
- A gaming industry conference drawing industry leaders and technology experts as speakers and
attendees to share ideas about the present and future of e-sports and their cultural relevance to society.
- A worldwide youth festival inaugurated in 2000 and held annually.
- The only single e-sports event organizing competition from six continents.

They achieved most of their goals even with the struggles faced with the economic downturn there as well. Their goal of focusing on the larger tournaments and trying to give as many attendees as possible stage matches was achieved. The schedule was a little optimistic with a couple of stage matches being moved back or reduced their Price Money but they did not taken out CS 1.6 or any other to compete in Grand Finals, they have given the good overall a large number of very successful matches. Generally tournaments were exciting this year with some major upsets creating some great matches.
There are many things which I still not have mentioned and I know few people will not like what I have written in this article. I will conclude this article by saying that “we have failed not delivered what Pakistani gamers looking for? Rather than going up with the standards in delivering the biggest and the best event in Pakistan we have failed”.
